The One That
Beats the Odds
Due to its highly corrosive properties,
there are only a few pumps that can reliably handle sulphuric acids and fewer that can provide flexible flow control when
the supply tank is on a higher level than the discharge head. The Larox LPP can do both
Since its installation in early 2004 at Kemira Growhow Plant in Finland, the
Larox peristaltic pump has been pumping sulphuric acid to a thickener in which the sulphuric acid reacts as a flocculent
Equipped
with a detector for early hose leak warning, the LPP is working as the main pump; a standby pump is reserved for maintenance.
Hose changes are carried out according to a preventive maintenance schedule
The sulphuric acid concentration ranges from 20 to 30% at ambient temperatures with
slurry specified gravity (S.G.) of 1.3. The flow rate varies from 0.2 to 0.5 m3/h and the maximum speed is 35 rpm
The flow-rate is controlled by
an inverter; the average flow being 9 l/min. A
PID control loop with fixed set point and process feedback from Krohne Coriolis mass flow meter controls the pump
The PID controller gives a control signal of 4 - 20
mA to the inverter, which regulates the speed and flow of the pump
Made of the most durable and resistant materials, the robust Larox Flowsys LPP provides a safe and reliable liquid transfer even when handling
the most aggressive media.
